A Very Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

We started Christmas Day with a church service unlike any we have ever experienced. We found a chapel with a Christmas Day service in the newspaper, but when we reached the address, we couldn't see the church. We walked a bit and saw this small chapel. Is this really where the service is?

We walked closer and peered inside, and saw only a few candles and a priest standing by himself inside the tiny chapel. He greeted us in Czech, and we tried to answer, and asked if there was a service. He tried German, and we found we could communicate a little better this way. He asked us if we were Christians and if we wanted to have communion. We told him yes, and we sat down on one of the three pews. The priest was trying as hard as he could to use German that we would understand. He even asked us if we wanted to sing in German or in Czech, and we sang a few carols in Czech. It was great to sing with him in this small space. We also sang Adeste Fideles in Latin, which was a real treat. Needless to say, it was very memorable.

After Church we met our visiting friends, and led them on a walking tour through downtown before arriving home for our Christmas Day festivities.

The day after Christmas we walked around and found an outdoor ice skating rink. Here we are in our uniforms... Doesn't Ally make a great penguin? (Tracy - I hope you're checking!)
