We're One Year Old!

We spent a great weekend on Bornholm, a small Danish island in the Baltic Sea. We took an overnight ferry to get there and then rented bikes and biked the whole weekend. The island is only about 40 km long and 20 km wide with tons of bike trails through the forrest and along the coast and lots of beautiful little Danish villages. And while we were there, we turned one!

On the train:

His and Her bikes :) The bikes were great because there were some dirt trails but it was tough to get used to no toe clips. . . . Biking along the coast with all our luggage:A view from the trail:

A view of Rønne when we arrived:
Gudhjem, one of the larger villages on Bornholm:

Biking through the center of the island (beautiful farm houses and dirt trails):

Alex swims off the southern coast of Bornholm (sandy beaches) where we stopped for a leasiurely lunch:
Watching the sunset from Hammerhus Castle. This is the northern most tip of Bornholm.

After watching the sunset we biked back into Allinge and had the most wonderful dinner: salmon caught from the bay right in front of us, amazing mushroom soup, swordfish with potatos and scampi, incredible wines, and apple crisp for dessert. It could not have been better. (and doesn't Alex's new Euro hairdo look great?!)

An afternnoon of relaxing by the sea before we left for Copenhagen.
And the bikes are returned. . . . .

Congratulations, we were thinking of you this weekend and of last year's fantastic events. How warm or cold was the water, Alex?
