One last hurrah with our London mate!

So much luggage! We're moving home with a quick stop in London to see a friend. It seemed like a great idea on paper: get a cheap(er) ticket to London from Prague, and stay there for a few days before going back to Washington. When we started carrying our bags, boxes, backpacks, and other belongings we started changing our tune...

But with some help we fit it all into a British cab:

And had a blast enjoying all things British:

Our friend goes off to work,

And we go off to take some classic London photos.

Or from The Monument, a tower similar to the Washington Monument. Perhaps a better view?

Do you like the zoom, or prefer the wider angle shot of the business district?
On our first day in London we came full circle and waited for our friend to finish working. Not a bad time to take some MORE pictures of the same bridge.

And then an amazing thing happened: Our friend showed us how to use a feature on our camera that we didn't know even existed! It lets us take pictures and manipulate which colors show up. So you get pictures like this:

And then it's time to eat fish and chips on the river:
Another day of sightseeing. We enjoyed the National Portrait Gallery enough for us to try to make our own portraits:

And then we found some more classic London photo opportunities:

Westminster Abbey:

And then a few more chances to play with the camera's new found feature:
Here is probably a good time to say how fun it was to hear people talking all around us and finally be able to understand everything... well, due to the London accent we could understand most things. And quickly our Czech skills started disappearing, as we knew we might not have a chance to speak Czech in the future.

Our friend is moving and so we walked to his new apartment before eating a wonderful but HOT dinner nearby. The poor Londoners were really suffering in some brutal heat while we were there. It made sightseeing slightly less comfortable, but it wasn't so bad.
Back near the old flat:

And sitting out back near a pit of green slime:
The bench in our friend's garden:

It was a blast to see London, and a nice way to ease ourselves west and away from one home and toward another.

We had that same idea on the way to Liverpool. Oooh! Cheaper flight to Amsterdam! We will have some fun and then take a hopper flight to liverpool! Not such an awesome idea, actually when you have to schlep everything you own all over the place, and then the hopper flight has a baggage limit and you have to pay extra, making the flight not so cheap.

K first, that might be the coolest feature on a camera ever...ever. I'm gonna have to have you show me that.

Second, how did you like my home? I love seeing pictures of you guys in London...brings back so many great memories. I'm glad you two are home safe- don't think of it as your adventure ending, think of it as a new adventure beginning.

So much love to you both,
Katie
